CAIRO: The creator of a Facebook group accusing advertising magnate Tarek Nour of stealing ideas for promos for his TV channel Al-Qahera Wal Nas (Cairo Centric) says he will not cancel the group, despite the legal action threats he received from Nour.

Nour is threatening to sue Tamer Azab for creating a group that accuses his satellite channel Cairo Centric of copying other commercials.

Nour said he will file a libel case against Azab for creating the group “Cairo Centric Stolen Ads, unless the latter cancels the group and sends Nour an official apology within three days.

Nour is accusing Azab of stealing the channel’s logo and using it along with the name of Tarek Nour’s advertising agency for personal gain.

While Azab removed the group’s logo, he said he will not cancel it and that his lawyers will handle this case.

Nour launched Cairo Centric satellite channel to broadcast during Ramadan. Azab claims that the humorous promos for the channel were exact replicas of other international commercials, only in Arabic.

“I only put the links of the imitated videos and I didn’t mean to insult anyone; I respect Tarek Nour very much as an advertising leader in Egypt, Azab, a web designer and student at the Modern Sciences and Arts University (MSA) told Daily News Egypt.

Azab denied rumors claiming he was an employee at Tarek Nour Communications.

He said that Nour wants to scare him as the group gained popularity, gathering more than 5,000 members within a couple of weeks.

Several groups were created on Facebook supporting Azab.

Neither Nour nor representatives at his advertising agency were available for comment by press time.
