CAIRO: Amr Zaki could well be fit when Zamalek take on Ittihad in the Egyptian Premier League next week, but Mahmoud “Shikabala Abdel-Razeq is likely to be ruled out of the game.
Zaki has been struggling with a hamstring injury since last month s 2-1 league defeat to Petrojet, and eventually missed the game with Arab Contractors.
The Egypt striker s injury has also forced him to pull out of the Pharaohs squad in Rwanda, ahead of Saturday s crucial World Cup qualifier.
However, the Bulldozer seems set to make his return against lowly Ittihad on Sept. 10.
Zaki is making huge progress, Zamalek chief medic Mostafa Al-Monayeri told the club s official.
He will resume full training in two days and may well play against Ittihad.
Apart from the Zaki boost, influential playmaker Shikabala is unlikely to make it against the Alexandrians as he is still nursing a groin injury.
Zamalek s official site said that the 23-year-old will work with the physiotherapists for 10 days, after which his match fitness will be tested.
Shikabala has also been poised to join Hassan Shehata s squad in Rwanda, but the midfield wizard was added to Egypt s long injury list.
