CAIRO: Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan says his goal in Saturday s 1-0 win at Rwanda was a reward from God for his insistence on fasting while playing the game.

The Ahlyv ace notched the winner midway through the second half to seal the vital victory for the African champions.

It was a critical match, but we managed to claim all three points, Hassan told FilGoal.com after the World Cup qualifier.

The goal that I scored was a reward from God because I was playing while fasting.

Observing Ramadan is a must for me, even while taking part in big games. I have got used to playing while fasting for quite a while.

Speaking of Algeria s game with Zambia on Sunday, Hassan said: I hope it ends in a draw.

Zambia held Egypt in Cairo and I think they can do the same with Algeria tomorrow.

Even if Algeria won the game, our morale won t be damaged. We will be seeking to win the next two qualifiers in all cases.

Egypt remain second in Group C of the qualifiers with seven points, behind leaders Algeria on goal difference.

Zambia are third on four points, while Rwanda lie bottom.
