CAIRO: Minister of Environment Maged George proposed seven locations to be used for the safe disposal of garbage according to international health and environmental standards.
According to George, the new sites are located in the following areas; Al-Salam road in Belbeis district, west Cairo; Cairo-Ain El-Sokhna Highway; Al-Karemat Road, south Cairo; Al-Ayat area in Giza, Cairo-Fayoum Highway; Cairo-Oases Highway; and Barkash area in Sixth of October City.
The news was announced after a meeting George held with Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif that was also attended by the Minister of Finance, Minister of Local Development and governors of Cairo, Giza, Sixth of October, Helwan and Qaliubiya on Monday.
In an official statement after the meeting, Nazif said that he had asked the Minister of Environment to make sure that the proposed locations are within a 30-km radius from residential areas.
