CAIRO: Ahly striker Emad Meteb got back in action during Monday s friendly with second tier GASCO, which saw the Egyptian champions slump to a 3-0 defeat.

The 26-year-old was sidelined for over five months, when he suffered knee ligament damage while playing for Saudi giants Ittihad, the club whom he joined on a year-long loan last term.

He was set to make his return early in September after reaching full recovery, but the coaching staff preferred to keep him on the sidelines for several more weeks to avoid a possible relapse.

Meteb came on as a second-half substitute instead of Yasser Al-Muhammadi.

Ahly coach Hossam Al-Badri was sent off after he protested against the referee for allowing GASCO s third goal to stand.

Al-Badri believes that the goal should have been disallowed through offside, but the referee thought otherwise.

Football director Hadi Khashaba stepped in to put an end to a verbal exchange between the two men.
