CAIRO: Playmaker Alaa Ali penned a new four-year contract with Zamalek, the Cairo club said on Saturday.
Ali initially rejected to earn LE 300,000 per season, prompting Zamalek to up their offer to 400,000.
The 21-year-old, who was frustrated to see the White Knights make a worthier offer to extend the contract of fellow youngster Hazem Emam, will now stay at the club until 2014.
Ali was one of few youth players who were promoted to the senior team last season in a bid to turn around their fortunes after a disastrous run of results.
He earned plaudits for some fine displays but saw his place taken by talented playmaker Mahmoud “Shikabala Abdel-Razeq and close-season arrival Remi Adiko this season.
Ali has yet to make any competitive appearance with Zamalek this term.
