CAIRO: Borussia Dortmund s Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan helped his team to a 2-0 win over Antar Yahia s Bochum in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Algeria defender Yahia was determined to excel against Zidan, ahead of his country s trip to Egypt next month in the World Cup qualifying stage.

However, he failed to keep the 27-year-old at bay, as the latter put in one of his finest performances and had a hand in the opening goal.

The talented forward, who shrugged off Yahia s statements one day before the match, was deployed as a playmaker to fill the void left by the absence of the injured Tamas Hajnal.

Zidan played behind a strike partnership consisting of Lucas Ramon Barrios and Nelson Valdez, who switched to a playmaker after the Egyptian ace was taken off 11 minutes from time.

On the other hand, Yahia was included in Bochum s starting line-up, but barely hindered Zidan in his efforts to threat the visitors.

Barrios hit the opener after 20 minutes, when Zidan stole the ball from a Bochum defender to flick it to Jakub Blaszczykowski, whose cross was diverted by the Argentine marksman into the net.

Nine minutes from the hour mark, Neven Subotic doubled the hosts lead after heading home a precise free-kick.

Dortmund now lie 10th with 12 points, while 16-placed Bochum remain on eight points.
