CAIRO: Egypt and Ahly playmaker Mohamed Abou-Trika stressed that he would be able to feature for the Pharaohs in the 2010 African Cup of Nations in January.
It was reported that the 31-year-old suffered a foot fracture that will keep him on the sidelines for more than two months, which cast doubts over his chances of playing at the biennial competition.
However, Ahly superstar Abou-Trika is confident that he will be fit to make the squad for the African Cup of Nations.
I will be sidelined only for six weeks, not eight as Ahly s medical staff announced, he told the Cairo club s official website.
Abou-Treik also played down suggestions that he would hang up his boots soon.
I have no intention of retiring whatsoever, he explained.
Football is all I think about and I m determined to play at the African Cup of Nations.
