CAIRO: Egypt will not face Tunisia ahead of next month s African Cup of Nations, assistant coach Hamada Sedki confirmed.
Tunisian media claimed that the North African rivals are set to meet as part of both team s preparations for the Angola showdown.
But Sedki denied the allegations, reiterating that the African champions, who compete in Group C, are only looking for teams from Group A or B.
It is totally untrue that we will play Tunisia, it is a far-fetched option, the former Egypt defender told FilGoal.com.
We are not settled yet on any friendly games, but we are talking with teams from the first and second group, excluding Algeria of course.
A friendly game with Algeria is the most unlikely option for Egypt, following the recent tension that marred both nations competition for a World Cup place.
This leaves Hassan Shehata to choose between hosts Angola, Mali and Malawi, and Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Togo from Group B.
