CAIRO: Ahly boss Hossam Al-Badri is set to lodge an official petition to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), requesting investigation with Ismaili defender Moatassem Salem, the Red Devils said on Monday.
Al-Badri seems dismayed by Salem s post-match comments, which included accusing him of threatening referee Mohamed Farouk during the half-time of Saturday s 1-1 draw.
We will make an official appeal to the EFA asking it to investigate Moatassem Salem s false claims after the match, Al-Badri told Ahly s official site.
The player accused me of influencing the referee at half-time, which I categorically and vehemently reject.
Our intention is to deny anyone trying to manipulate the thoughts of supporters with baseless lies.
Ahly said that Al-Badri will rely on referee Farouk s total rejection of Salem s claims as proof for his case.
Salem, who received his second red card in 13 games at the weekend, insisted that referee Farouk was unfair, before later involving Ahly in his accusations.
