CAIRO: Six more deaths reported on Sunday have brought the death toll from the HINI virus in Egypt up to 86, announced Ministry of Health spokesman Abdel Rahman Shahin.
The cases include a pregnant woman in her fifth month from Gharbia.
The ministry will start vaccinating pregnant women later this month or in early January, as they seem to be particularly vulnerable.
The six cases also include a 53-year-old woman from Cairo who had pneumonia and difficulty breathing. She was put on a ventilator. Her medical history includes a rheumatic heart, diabetes and high blood pressure.
The third case was that of a 29-year-old man from Cairo who suffers from asthma, diabetes and obesity, while the fourth case is a diabetic, 34-year-old man from Alexandria who had had a liver transplant.
The fifth case was of a 54-year-old man from Cairo who had a history of heart disease.
The sixth is a toddler from Daqahlia.
