CAIRO: Zamalek striker Amr Zaki made an apology to the club s board for missing regular training over the past couple of weeks.

The muscular hitman went AWOL early this month to incur the wrath of Zamalek s officials, who eventually put him on the transfer list.

Zaki showed up at the club on Wednesday, citing his “daughter s deteriorating health as a reason for his unauthorized absence.

Zaki said he took no part in training over the past days because he was psychologically disturbed as a result of his daughter s deteriorated health condition, a Zamalek statement read.

He was also frustrated because he couldn t make Egypt s squad for the African Cup of Nations due to injury.

Zaki s agent Nader Shawki has recently revealed that Turkish trio Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas are interested in the Egyptian international s services.

Moreover, recent reports linked the 26-year-old with several premiership outfits.

Zaki stressed that he would accept any decision made by Zamalek on his future.

The Cairo club are yet to decide whether or not to penalize the former Wigan Athletic man.
