CAIRO: The Egyptian Court of Cassation upheld on Monday the death sentence meted out to the murderer of the head of Banque Misr’s credit department.
Sameh Mohamed Naguib Mohamed, a cook, will be executed, while his wife and accomplice Neamat Ahmed Marzouk, the victim’s domestic servant, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of 56-year-old Hala Fayek in May 2009.
Investigations proved that Marzouk had aided and abetted her husband’s plans to rob Fayek, informing him about where the victim kept her money and jewelry.
On the day he committed the crime, he approached the victim’s at her apartment in Giza wielding a pen knife. When she attempted to resist, he stabbed her several times and stole LE 60,000 as well as one kilogram worth of gold from the safe.
During the interrogations, both Marzouk and Mohamed made full confessions, according to the state-run Al-Gomhuria newspaper. -Daily News Egypt.
