CAIRO: Hossam Ghaly escaped a red card as Saudi side Nassr slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Hilal after extra time to miss out on a place in the Crown Prince Cup semi final on Wednesday.
The Egyptian midfielder helped Nassr book a place in the quarter finals when he scored twice in their 2-0 victory over Raed last week.
He put in a fine display against Hilal but was lucky not to be sent off in the first half.
His left hand caught Hilal striker Yasser Al-Qahtani in the face in an off-the-ball incident but the referee missed it.
Ghaly was earlier booked for kicking the ball away after Hilal were awarded a through in.
A header from Guinean forward Pascal Feindouno gave Nassr the lead on 56 minutes.
Hilal s Brazilian Thiago Neves leveled the score on the hour mark with a left-footed shot, forcing the game into extra time.
Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson notched the decisive winner in the 113th minute as Hilal set up a semi-final meeting with Najran.
