CAIRO: Zamalek have contacted Portuguese side Sporting Braga to get back the money they paid to sign attacking midfielder Rainford Kalaba on loan after the player declined to complete the move.
The Cairo side have already paid Braga $25,000 to acquire the Zambian international s services on loan until the end of the season.
But Kalaba, who is reportedly targeted by Zamalek s arch-rivals Ahly, refused to join up with his new team for no apparent reason.
We don t know whether the player intends to change his mind and complete the move, Zamalek spokesman Sabri Serag told FilGoal.com.
But we don t care anymore, we ve asked Braga to send back the money they received from us.
A player who does not want to play for Zamalek is unwelcome here.
Kalaba was due to be one of Zamalek s January arrivals as they sought to strengthen their attack following the departure of Mido and Amr Zaki to the English Premier League.
The White Knights have also signed Egyptian-born Qatari winger Hussein Yasser on a free transfer after Ahly terminated his contract.
