CAIRO: West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is satisfied with Mido s progress as he believes the Egyptian has earned his first-team place with the Hammers.

Even though he has yet to find the net, Mido started the last two games against Chelsea and Arsenal, keeping top scorer Carlton Cole on the bench.

Mido gets better and better. We didn’t have many opportunities but he worked his socks off against Arsenal, Zola said.

To be honest, his attitude has been brilliant. And that is the reason why he is playing. He came here and he has been working hard and is gaining his place here.

In response to claims accusing Mido of being overweight, Zola said: Okay, I am not going to feed him tomorrow! I have asked him the same question but his body weight is the same as a few years ago.

Six-pointer

Meanwhile, Mido is relishing the troops ahead of Tuesday s crucial bottom-of-the-table clash with Wolves at Boleyn Ground.

The Wolves match is a six-pointer. It is a very, very important game, the 27-year-old said.

It’s a shame we ended up losing to Arsenal as if we had scored the penalty, it would have changed the game. But I still think Arsenal are a class act.

West Ham are currently 17th of the Premier League on 27 points, three off the relegation zone. Wolves are 16th on 28 points.
