CAIRO: A swine flu outbreak has struck members of the Gaish team as four players tested positive for the virus.

Egypt international Abdel-Sattar Sabri, Mahmoud Massoud, Ahmed Zakaria and Mohamed Shedid, along with physio Yasser Shebl, are believed to be the virus’ victims so far.

It was suspected that 17 members of the military side have caught the virus, but five cases have been confirmed so far.

It is the first time that the H1N1 virus has hit an Egyptian Premier League club, even though it occurred several times in Europe this season.

Meanwhile, Competition’s Committee president Amer Hussein confirmed that Friday’s league game between Gaish and ENPPI has been postponed following the players’ illness.

Hussein also added that Gaish’s rescheduled match with Ismaili next week could also be postponed.

Farouk Gaafar’s team are pushing for a place in the top five as they currently lie eighth of the table on 34 points.
