CAIRO: Zamalek have turned down a proposal from Belgian champions Anderlecht to sign midfield star Shikabala in the summer.

"Anderlecht enquired about Shikabala last week, but the board rejected the proposal," Zamalek marketing director Ashraf Sobhi told FilGoal.com.

"They asked about the possibility of a loan move or a permanent transfer, but we made it clear the player is not for sale."

Zamalek said recently that Shikabala, who runs out of contract in the summer, will sign an extension with the club soon.

The 24-year-old has repeatedly revealed his ambition of playing abroad though, amid reported interest from Serie A side Napoli.

Anderlecht’s last transaction with Zamalek came in 2001 when ex-winger Tarek Al-Saied moved to Constant Vanden Stock.
