CAIRO: Egypt midfielder Mohamed Shawky says he has the intention of returning to his old club Ahly in the near future.
The Kayserispor man refuted media reports linking him with a summer move to Cairo as he aims to keep his Europe career alive.
"I am staying with Kayseri unless a better offer from Europe returns," Shawky told his personal website.
"There is no reason for me to return to the Egyptian league now, but if one day I decided to go back, my priority will be Ahly."
Egyptian champions Ahly are believed to be looking for a central midfielder, having been linked with Egypt duo Hossam Ghaly and Hosni Abd-Rabou lately.
