CAIRO: The prosecution transferred political activist Ahmed Abu Doma to an urgent trial before finalizing all legal procedures, lawyer at Hisham Mubarak Law Center Ahmed Saif told Daily News Egypt on Friday.

April 6 member Abu Doma was arrested on May 3 at a protest organized by MPs and activists, demanding an end to emergency law.

He was accused of illegal congregation and assaulting a police officer in the line of duty and injuring two other ones.

“The prosecutor did not listen to the testimonies of defense witnesses. Neither did he look into the videos submitted on compact disks as evidence,” Saif added.

“So we will have to wait for the trial Saturday to present them all over again.”

Abu Doma was recently been released from prison after completing a one-year sentence handed down to him by a military court for crossing over into Gaza through the Egypt-Rafah border without permission.
