CAIRO: Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek have launched bids to sign Ismaili defender Moatasem Salem in the close season.

"Ahly and Zamalek are both interested in Salem’s services," Ismaili assistant coach Mahmoud Gaber told FilGoal.com. "We have received offers from both clubs."

Ismaili are yet to decide whether or not to open talks with the suitors of the Egypt international.

"The club’s officials won’t start negotiations with either side unless the coaching staff gives them the thumbs-up," Gaber added.

"We will wait till the end of the season to decide on his future. We will let him go only if we find a replacement for him."

Ismaili are likely to keep hold of Salem as they most probably won’t risk weakening their backline ahead of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Salem’s contract with the coastal side runs out in 2013 and it doesn’t include a release clause.
