The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Commercial Office at the Austrian Embassy organized an Austrian Trade Mission to Cairo last week, led by Andreas Meindl, regional director of Africa Middle East at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
The 20 participating Austrian companies represented a variety of fields: environmental technologies, hospital technologies, energy, textile and yarns, computer process automation, cable and wire industry, banking services, communication systems, market research services, petroleum testing equipment, taximeters, timber and veneers, precious metals, high technology printing technologies, railway technologies and hydro electric equipment.
Kurt Altmann, Austrian commercial counselor in Cairo, said that despite a decrease in exports from the European Union to Egypt in the first half of the financial year 2009/2010, Austria’s exports to Egypt saw a slight rise.
In 2009 Austrian exports reached €207.5 million while imports from Egypt decreased by 15 percent to €59 million.
