BEIRUT: Lebanese judicial officials say prosecutors are questioning eight men suspected of taking part in last month’s lynching of a murder suspect.
Egyptian national Mohammed Muslim was stabbed to death April 29 by an angry mob in the Chouf mountain town of Ketermaya. His body was paraded through town and hanged from an electricity pole.
Muslim had been arrested a day earlier on suspicion of killing four members of a local family.
The judicial officials said Friday that some of the suspects were detained while others turned themselves in. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
Last month, Lebanese authorities said they have the names of at least 10 suspects.
The country’s president has ordered the government to take action against those responsible.
