ElBaradei arrives in Cairo with no fanfare

CAIRO: Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the National Coalition for Change arrived in Cairo unannounced Monday afternoon following an almost month-long trip abroad.

Sources at the National Coalition for Change told Daily News Egypt, "ElBaradei expressed his desire not to notify the media of the time of his arrival and kept it a secret. Only a few of his close supporters knew this information and his brother was the only one meeting him at the airport."

ElBaradei’s brother, Aly, told Daily News Egypt, "I can’t discuss any details regarding his trip, but he did arrive home today, adding that "ElBaradei stressed that he did not wish to reveal the time of his arrival or any details related to it."

Hassan Nafaa, General Coordinator of the National Coalition for Change, told Daily News Egypt that he knew that ElBaradei will be arriving Monday, but that he didn’t have any more details.

“I don’t usually receive him at the airport, he always calls me after he arrives," said Nafaa.

George Ishaq, another leading member of the National Coalition, told Daily News Egypt, "ElBaradei will meet with a number of leaders in the group in the coming days to evaluate the group’s performance so far. He will also meet with a number of other figures including members of the Facebook campaign supporting his nomination in the 2011 Presidential elections.”

He added that ElBaradei intends to tour a number of governorates in the coming period.
