CAIRO: Ismaili have approached Zamalek’s want-out striker Sherif Ashraf and the 23-year-old is willing to join the Dervishes.
Ashraf, who wants to leave the White Knights in order to play regular first-team football, is targeted by a good number of Egyptian top-flight clubs, including Arab Contractors, Petrojet and Gouna.
The former Ahly youngster revealed on Sunday that Ismaili are also interested in his services, saying a move to the coastal side appeals to him.
"Some Ismaili board members contacted me," he told FilGoal.com.
"I find the bid appealing and I have already informed them of my initial agreement to move to Ismaili, but they need to get permission from Zamalek.
"Ismaili should open talks with Zamalek soon, so I’m waiting for what will happen."
Ashraf joined the Whites from their arch-rivals Ahly in 2007 but failed to establish himself as a regular starter over the past three years.
Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan, who took the helm last year, usually relies on a lone striker in Ahmed Gaafar and seldom includes Ashraf in the starting eleven.
Ashraf’s hopes to increase his appearances were further dented after Amr Zaki’s return to Zamalek from Hull City this summer.
The out-of-favor player still have one year on his contract with the Cairo giants.
