According to Egypt’s Minister of Investment, the government plans to offer road, rail and other social services projects worth LE 10 billion ($1.8 billion) for public-private partnerships.

No particular time scheme has been provided for the projects. One of the proposed projects is a 33 km highway stretch, linking the Shubra area of Cairo with Benha to the north to ease the traffic of the existing road, used by about 45,000 vehicles a day.

Egypt’s economic growth and productivity is much affected by increasing road, rail and sea accidents and gridlocked traffic in Cairo.
