BAGHDAD: Iraqi officials say gunmen killed an employee of a local irrigation department and his family as part of an apparent tribal dispute over water distribution west of Baghdad.
Police officials say the driver of a drilling truck, his wife and two young children were slain as they slept in a pre-dawn attack on Friday in the mainly Sunni district of Abu Ghraib.
Investigator Mohammed Khudair says irrigation department employees have been targeted in the past because of the dispute.
The attack comes amid concerns that crime is increasing as sectarian bloodshed has ebbed.
Police say two people were killed Friday in a rocket attack elsewhere in Abu Ghraib.
