CAIRO: Polish tourists in an Egyptian Red Sea resort town cast ballots for their country’s presidential election on Sunday in a beauty salon, in the absence of a traditional voting center.

Poland’s government, which called for snap elections after former president Lech Kaczynski died in an April airplane crash, has set up polling stations in countries frequented by Polish tourists because many Poles are on vacation.

A manager at the Agape Beauty Salon in Hurghada, a popular diving destination, said the salon, which normally offers massages and beauty treatments, was "very busy." She gave no estimate of the number of voters.

Polish tourists in Cairo voted in their embassy.

About half a million Poles traveled to Egypt in 2009.
