CAIRO: One judge and two chairmen of courts were relieved from their duties for committing legal violations and acts that are offensive to the judiciary, vice chairman of Cassation Court Ahmed Mekky told Daily News Egypt Wednesday.

The Disciplinary Board Council of Judges laid off Chairman of Tanta Appeal Court Ahmed Shaaban Al-Nashar, Judge at Mansoura Appeals Court Nasser Abdel-Razeq and Chairman of Giza Magistrates’ Court Hany El-Refaei.

“This is a usual procedure. … When a judge commits a professional misdeed or a [personal] behavior [that have an impact on the image of the judiciary], he will be referred to … the disciplinary board which either dismisses or penalizes him,” Mekky added.

“The main reasons behind such decisions … and the details of violations are kept confidential for the sake of the judges’ reputation and the prestige of the judiciary,” Mekky concluded.
