CAIRO: Ahly are still in search of a striker as manager Hossam Al-Badri promises that the new recruit will be a top signing.

"We haven’t stopped searching for a new striker, but we need a quality signing," Al-Badri told Ahly’s official website.

"We will hand a trial to a striker when we return from Germany (pre-season camp), but we’ll make sure that the new arrival would add something to our squad."

Ahly acquired the services of striker Francis Doe last summer, but the Liberian struggled to make an impact in his first season in Cairo.

The league champions are believed to be in talks with Guinea international Souleymane Youla, who is supposed to move on a free transfer.

Egypt forward Geddo is Ahly’s top summer signing so far, whereas Ahmed Belal and Gamal Hamza were offloaded, with the latter leaving upon his own request before playing a single game.
