CAIRO: Ismaili refuted reports linking free agent Gamal Hamza with a move to the coastal side after his abrupt departure from Ahly.

"The club is not interested in him," Ismaili vice-president Hamad Mousa told FilGoal.com.

"Head coach Mark Wotte wants to sign a foreign striker and has no plans to land Hamza."

Ismaili have already handed Ghanaian striker Samuel Affum a trial and will sign him from Accra Hearts of Oak should he impress.

Hamza joined Ahly on a free transfer after his contract with Gouna expired this summer but left them by mutual consent all of a sudden.

The deep-lying striker opted to depart after learning that Ahly would not include him in their African Champions League squad.

His boyhood club Zamalek is now holding talks with him.

Hamza spent nine years with the White Knights before moving to German club Mainz in the summer of 2009.

The 28-year-old could not keep up with the physical demands of the Bundesliga to return home without playing a single league game with Mainz.
