CAIRO: Emad Meteb will not be able to complete his move to Standard Liege on Monday as planned after his flight to Belgium was abruptly postponed.

The Egypt striker was expected to set off from Cairo on Monday morning but the engine of the plane he was going to board broke down.

Meteb is yet to be informed whether he will travel to Belgium on the same day or not.

"The plane should have taken off at 11 am but all the passengers were ordered to evacuate it because of a malfunction of the engine," agent Nader Shawki, who is accompanying Meteb to Standard, told
FilGoal.com.

"We still don’t know when we will fly. The sooner the better of course."

After his deal with Ahly ran out this summer, Meteb signed a pre-contract with Standard amid serious efforts from the Red Devils to keep hold of him.

The 27-year-old said he may ponder a new deal with Ahly only if he encounters problems at the Liege-based club.
