Egypt’s exports to Tunisia increased by 104 percent in the first quarter of 2010 to reach $51.6 million, compared to $25.3 million during the same period last year, the trade ministry said.
In a statement, the ministry said that a report from Egypt’s trade office in Tunisia showed that the volume of bilateral trade between both countries totaled $81.7 million in the first quarter of 2010, compared to $36.5 million the previous year, a rise of 123 percent.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from Tunisia reached $30.1 million, an increase of 169 percent from last year’s $11.2 million.
Egypt mainly exported fuel and mineral oils, foodstuffs, equipment and machinery, iron and steel as well as plastics and paper. One-third of Egypt’s imports comprised chemical products.
