Egyptian wing-back Ahmed Al-Muhammadi made his first Sunderland appearance in the Black Cats’ 1-0 friendly victory over Conference National outfit Darlington on Saturday.
The Sunderland new recruit was introduced as a substitute three minutes from the half-hour mark, replacing English midfielder Lee Cattermole.
According to the live coverage of the Premiership side’s official website, Al-Muhammadi put in a promising performance.
He created a number of scoring opportunities and whipped in many crosses from the right flank.
Dutch veteran Boudewijn Zenden scored the match’s only goal on 83 minutes.
Al-Muhammadi moved to Sunderland this summer from ENPPI on a season-long loan.
He is expected to make his Premier League debut in Sunderland’s curtain raiser against Birmingham City on Aug. 14.
