CAIRO: Harras Hodoud lost a 1-0 defeat to Botswana’s Gaborone United in the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16 on Saturday.

The hosts scored the winner 20 minutes from time.

Now the Alexandrian side need to beat Gaborone by a two-goal margin in the second leg, which takes place in around two weeks at Max Stadium, in order to guarantee a last-eight berth.

Hodoud lost the first leg despite being in control of the game for quite a while and carving out a number of scoring opportunities in the first half.

They could not translate their dominance into goals though.

Gaborone took the upper hand after the interval and eventually clinched a narrow victory.
