CAIRO: Middlesbrough striker Ahmed “Mido” Hossam is poised to join Turkish club Kayserispor starting next season, according to media reports.

Few days ago, the towering player told FilGoal.com that a Turkish side had tabled a “worthwhile offer” to acquire his services but kept his suitor anonymous.

Later on, Turkish papers reported that a summer deal that would see Mido move to Kayserispor is on the cards.

When he was first linked with a move to Turkey, it was conjectured that Mido will join one of the top Turkish trio Fenerbahce, Galatasaray or Besiktas.

However, the former Tottenham Hotspur ace assured that none of the three outfits had approached him.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Kayserispor finished last season in eighth place with 51 points. They will take no part in any European competitions next term.

Shawky fell out with Kayserispor due to financial matters
The mid-table side are reportedly looking to fill the void left by the departure of Portuguese hitman Ariza Makukula, who moved to Trabzonspor on a loan basis.

It was also reported Mido will be paid €1.6 million (LE 13 million) a year.
Mido’s former Middlesbrough teammate Mohamed Shawky sealed a move to Kayserispor from the Riverside last winter but terminated his contract with the Turkish club only after six months.

Many Egyptians had spells in Turkey, such as Ahmed Hassan, Abdel-Zaher Al-Saqqa, Ayman Abdel-Aziz and Amir Azmi.

However, Mido will be the only Egyptian player in Turkey should he complete a deal with Kayserispor.
