CAIRO: Zamalek new signing Essam Al-Hadari didn’t receive the greeting he expected in his first home game with the team.
The Whites’ pre-season goalless draw with Wadi Degla at Railways Stadium was overshadowed by some mocking chants directed at the Egypt number one from the stands.
Even though Al-Hadari started in goal, Zamalek fans kept chanting the name of skipper Abdel-Wahed Al-Sayed, obviously ignoring the former on purpose.
Al-Hadari will not play for Zamalek before 2011 as he has a four-month ban to serve, following his infamous departure from Ahly to Sion in 2008.
However, a fierce competition is expected between the 37-year-old and his Egypt deputy Al-Sayed in the second half of next season.
