JERUSALEM /GAZA CITY: Israeli troops fired tank shells at Palestinian insurgents near the border fence, killing one and wounding three others on Wednesday, medics and witnesses said.
The Israeli military says soldiers saw a group of men approach Israel’s border fence with Gaza and launched an air strike against them before dawn on Wednesday.
The military routinely fires on people who approach the border fence from Gaza because it suspects they have come to plant explosive devices that target Israeli soldiers and civilians.
Gaza health official Moaiya Hassanain says three other insurgents were wounded in the Israeli attack.
