PARIS: Frenchman Patrice Neveu, who left his job as DR Congo coach in April, told AFP on Wednesday that he has signed a 12-month contract with newly-promoted Egyptian first division side Smouha.

The 56-year-old replaces Mohsen Saleh at the Alexandria-based club.

Neveu previously coached Niger (1999-2000) and Guinea (2004-07).

He was in charge of Guinea when they reached the quarter-finals of the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He also coached Egyptian club Ismaili, Chinese side Dalian Shide and CA Rabat and Tetouan in Morocco.
