Russian telecoms group Vimpelcom Lt will discuss on Thursday the possible purchase of a stake in Egyptian group Orascom Telecom, the business daily Vedomosti reported.
The newspaper, citing sources close to Vimpelcom, said the issue will be discussed during the company’s board of directors meeting in Amsterdam. Vimpelcom could not be immediately reached for a comment.
In mid-August sources told Reuters that the company was in talks with tycoon Naguib Sawiris to buy 51 percent of Orascom.
