CAIRO: Ahmed Fathi will not be leaving Ahly before the winter break, amid interest from an English Premier League club.
The Egypt defender was linked with a return to England this summer, with reports suggesting that West Ham are in for him.
However, FilGoal.com understands that the limited time before the August transfer deadline prompted Ahly to postpone talks until January.
Fathi, whose contract runs out by the end of the season, is set to enter negotiations over an extension with the Egyptian champions.
It is believed that Ahly could only allow him to leave in January should they receive a satisfying offer; reportedly around £1.5million.
Fathi, 26, already had a spell with Sheffield United, but the versatile defender has hardly impressed with the Blades during his brief tenure in 2007.
