CAIRO: FIFA will keep Shikabala’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) till it decides whether or not to punish the Zamalek schemer, according to the Egyptian FA.
The 24-year-old risked a FIFA ban after extending his deal with Zamalek in August, although he had earlier penned a four-year contract with Anderlecht.
Belgian giants Anderlecht called on FIFA to send them Shikabala’s ITC but the world governing body is yet to make a final decision concerning the infamous transfer saga.
"We have received a letter from FIFA," Egyptian FA director Salah Hosni told FilGoal.com. "It will keep Shikabala’s International Transfer Certificate for the time being and won’t send it to Belgium.
"We have already sent a copy of Shikabala’s contract to FIFA as well as a written confirmation that he wants to stay at Zamalek.
"FIFA will look into all the documents (from both clubs) and in the meantime will keep his International Transfer Certificate."
A while back, Anderlecht had two bids for Shikabala turned down by Zamalek, who were determined to keep hold of their prized asset.
The Egyptian international has been an integral member of Zamalek’s squad since rejoining his boyhood club in 2006 after ending a two-year spell with Greek side PAOK.
Now he might well be sanctioned for signing for two clubs at the same time.
