The volume of exports from free zones in Egypt reached $6.2 billion, reported the State Information Service.
Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Osama Saleh, stressed the authority’s keenness on creating an environment for doing business and cooperation with relevant international institutions and bodies in order to attract multinational global companies to establish projects in Egypt.
Saleh said that there is close cooperation between GAFI and representation offices abroad to support efforts of state bodies and institutions to lure further foreign investments to Egypt.
He added that the free zones play an important role in Egypt’s economic growth, creating 223,000 job opportunities. GAFI created an investment map for each governorate, including investment opportunities, databases and data on the industrial zones in these governorates, according to the Global Arab Network.
