CAIRO: The Egyptian FA announced that Olympic team manager Hani Ramzy will be suspended for appearing on a TV show with Nile Sport.
The former Egypt defender was hosted by the local TV channel on Sunday to talk about the Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool.
Despite the controversy, Ramzy defended his position by assuring that he only made the appearance as a guest, rather than an analyst.
"I went to the show as a guest, not an analyst for the game," the former Werder Bremen stopper told FilGoal.com.
"They called me because Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson worked with me for two years when I was at Neuchatel during my playing days.
"I am not under any contract as a TV analyst because I respect the FA’s decision regarding this specific job.
"Anyways I will talk to the FA officials in order to clarify things and I am confident we will reach a solution soon."
The FA prohibits managers of national teams from having extra football-related jobs, amid the emergence of several satellite channels in recent years.
