CAIRO: Egypt’s Alexandria Cotton Exporters’ Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 8,199 tons of cotton in the week that ended on Oct. 2, an Alcotexa official said on Sunday.
The sales comprised 1,600 tons of Giza 88, 100 tonnes of Giza 87, 6,249 tons of Giza 86 and 250 tons of Giza 80, the official said.
Alcotexa’s export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 18,524 tons of cotton worth $59.112 million, the official said.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 3,225 tons of cotton worth $7.14 million.
