Egypt’s Alexandria Cotton Exporters’ Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 46,406 tons of cotton in the week that ended on Oct. 9, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Monday.
The sales comprised 12 tons of Giza 45, 225 tons of Giza 87, 9,509 tons of Giza 88, 35,100 tons of Giza 86, 710 tons of Giza 80 and 850 tons of Giza 90, the official said.
Alcotexa’s export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 64,930 tons of cotton worth $224.22 million, the official said.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 4,330 tons of cotton worth $9.54 million.
