DUBAI: Global opinion research organization Gallup is to open a research center into Muslim opinion in the United Arab Emirates, the official WAM news agency reported.

"Building on Gallup’s seminal work in the field of Muslim studies, the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center (ADGC) will offer unmatched research on the attitudes and aspirations of Muslims around the world," WAM said on Sunday.

ADGC will also focus on "the most important societal challenges facing the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council," WAM said, referring to the six-nation grouping of wealthy Gulf Arab states.

"Our vision is for the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center to be a major source for cutting-edge research and foresight on the most important challenges facing Muslim societies today," WAM quoted Dalia Mogahed, who currently heads the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies and who will be ADGC’s director, as saying.

ADGC is to open later this year in partnership with the court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahayan.
