CAIRO: Ahmed Samir’s return to Zamalek could not be completed as the club refuse to pay the full-back a pre-contract fee.
Samir signed a contract with Zamalek after being released by Lierse in August, and was supposed to re-join the Whites in January.
However, FilGoal.com understands that the 29-year-old could backtrack on the move due to Zamalek’s refusal to pay him an LE 325,000 pre-contract fee.
Meanwhile, Zamalek marketing director Ashraf Sobhi is working on the case, trying to convince the club’s new board to save the deal.
Zamalek are believed to be in dire need for a right-back, amid the poor form of Ahmed Ghanem and the inconsistency of the unsettled Hazem Emam.
Samir spent three seasons in Cairo with the White Knights before joining Harras Hodoud in 2004.
