CAIRO: The Egyptian court of law set December 6 as a final date to rule on the appeal lodged by former Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas against his sacking.

Abbas’ board was sacked by the Supreme Council of Sport in September following a successful protest by Mortada Mansour against the legitimacy of the 2009 elections.

Abbas, who was replaced by Galal Ibrahim, made another appeal in an attempt to regain presidency of the Cairo club.

Eventually, the court of law said on Monday that a final decision will be made in December, pending the arrival of new evidence.

It is worth noting that Mansour, a renowned attorney, has decided to face Abbas himself in the case.

Until Zamalek’s next elections in 2011, Ibrahim is expected to remain as the club’s interim chairman.
