CAIRO: Emad Meteb can’t wait to make his January comeback as he begins a rehab program following his long-term back injury.
The Egypt striker, who re-joined Ahly after his controversial Standard Liege U-turn, has been struggling with a troublesome back since April.
But he is now looking to regain his fitness before resuming full training next month.
"My back injury is almost healed and the rehab program I’m about to start should solve the problem completely," Meteb told FilGoal.com.
"I can’t wait to be back and I really miss the Ahly fans.
"Their support is one thing that encourages me to be back in action."
Meteb finished last season as Ahly’s top scorer in the league with nine goals to win his fifth straight Egyptian Premier League title with the club.
The 27-year-old is expected to become Hossam Al-Badri’s first-choice striker in the second half of the season as the Reds have encountered several problems with their frontline so far.
